    Wed 29 Mar 2023

    Dear Parents,
It has been such a busy term with so much happening. As I look back it is hard to believe we only have one term left of this academic year.

I am so impressed with how our children have developed over this year and am so impressed with how the children in Maple class have grown in confidence.

This week I have seen them finishing their artwork for the exhibition at the new village hall.  This is happening at the official opening on the 2nd April, when the hall is officially opened and the artwork will be on display.

I am very excited to see the Easter performance by Damson class on Friday. The children and team in Damson class have worked tirelessly in difficult situations, to ensure they are ready for a great performance.

We have an inset day directly after the Easter holiday (17th April), so we look forward to welcoming the children back in school on Tuesday 18th April.

I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Easter break where you get a chance to spend some quality time with your families.

    Maple Class:
We have been very busy with our D&T project this week to make our own wooden spoon puppet. We designed them, worked very hard to make them and then evaluated them. We are really looking forward to the Easter eggstravaganza this week too!
    Have a wonderful Easter!

    Cedar Class
Cedar class have been celebrating Easter this week with our Easter extravaganza. We have also enjoyed learning about plastic pollution and how we can help our local community. The children have been trying hard at fractions (y2) and dividing with remainders (y3) in their maths work.
    Happy Easter!

    Damson Class:
This week in Damson, we have been writing our twisted Fairy Tales in Literacy. Whilst, in Maths we have been using mental strategies to add and subtract. We are also busy rehearsing for the Easter performance and making Easter cards.
    Have a lovely Easter!

    Oak Class:
This week we have been translating and reflecting shapes into all 4 quadrants and looking for patterns in maths. In literacy we have been focussed past and present progressive sentences. We have also created some artwork with a local focus ready for the exhibition at the new village hall.
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter break.

    Dear Parents,
It was so lovely to see so many of you at our Mother’s Day celebration on Monday.  It was so special to see the children performing to you all and the pure love that was in the room as they talked about their mother figures who care and look after them.  Many apologies that this needed to be delayed from last Friday and that the sound on the recording was very quiet.

This week has continued to be a hive of activity, as I have got the chance to hear Damson class busily rehearsing for the Easter play.  This is always a special time of the year and I know they will once again do us proud next Friday when they perform.

I do genuinely feel that the challenging work and enthusiasm that the children and staff put into everything they do - could easily run a small country!

Next week our Eco warriors in Damson and Oak class will be joining other children within Kenilworth to start our ‘war’ on single use plastic.  This starts with our ‘trash mob’ where we will be finding the evidence to write to our local MP and companies about this waste.  It should be a good opportunity to get the children thinking about how we save our planet from unnecessary waste.

I look forward to seeing you when we celebrate the children’s achievements on Friday when we once again ‘Reach for the Stars’.

    Maple Class:
This week in Maple Class we have been exploring materials in science. We carried out experiments to find out which fabric would be the best choice for repairing Mrs Carroll’s broken umbrella! In literacy we have created Max’s next adventure to space and are busy writing our super stories.

    Cedar Class
This week in Cedar we have looked at what made the Vikings successful and their methods of travel. In literacy we have been reading The Library Lion and re-writing the story of the Lion at BGA.

    Damson Class:
This week in Damson Class, we have been looking at Twisted Fairy Tales in Literacy and revising the properties of shape, converting weight & reading scales in Maths. We have also been learning more about mountains and how they are formed in Topic work.

    Oak Class:
This week we have been creating and interpreting data from line graphs and pie charts in maths. We have started our Graffiti Unit in English. We researched graffiti artists and selected our favourites – currently we are each writing a biography on the artist we chose. In our topic work we are looking at the artwork of Fredrick Catherwood – he sketched and painted primary sources of evidence which support our historical understanding of life in ancient Maya times.

    Dear Parents,
It has been another busy week with the addition of snow today!

It was lovely last week seeing the fantastic costumes on World Book Day and also seeing the children enjoying their dance session.

It was lovely to see the children really throw themselves into the dance and ‘pretend’ to be revolting children!

There is a real buzz of excitement as the year 5 children (and staff) make the final preparations for the residential tomorrow.  I am genuinely so grateful to the staff who volunteer to go on these residentials and give up yet more of their precious time.  It is a huge commitment, but this does allow the children to have added experiences.

I look forward to seeing some of you on Friday when we once again ‘Reach for the Stars’.

Have a lovely weekend when it finally arrives!

    Maple Class:
This week in Maple we have started to explore ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ in literacy and have created some fantastic story maps to help us retell the story. We have also created some of our very own wild things! In maths, we are learning how to tell time and are focussing on ‘o’clock’ and ‘half past’ times.

    Cedar Class:
We have enjoyed learning about what makes good friends this week, as well as how we can show others good friendship in different parts of our school. The children did well in their maths learning about money and place value. In addition, they have been enjoying reading Otto the Book Bear and The Library Lion.

    Damson Class:
In Damson Class this week, we have been busy getting our school assessments done, as Year 5 will be going on a residential trip Thursday and Friday. In addition, we have been very creative and are busy sketching, designing and painting for Topic and for our Mother's Day celebration.

    Oak Class:
In Oak Class we have been busy with assessment week. In addition to the school progress tests we have completed a set of SAT’s papers - this is to help with our test preparation ahead of our statutory tests in May. In addition, we have been working on a few surprise pieces for our Mother's Day celebration.
