  • Burton Green Academy Newsletter 7th December 2022

    Wed 07 Dec 2022

    Dear Parents,
It has been a really busy week with the preparation for the productions in readiness for the shows.

I have been ‘blown away’ by the amazing performances that we have already seen/heard.  You are in for a real treat!

Next week is incredibly busy with Christmas lunch, parties and a visiting Panto.

We would love the children to wear their Christmas jumpers on Friday for the last day of term.

Party day is Tuesday 13th December when the children can wear their party clothes.   Our Carol concert (with nativity section) is on Wednesday afternoon.

Could I please thank you for continuing to be vigilant when your child(ren) are feeling under the weather.  We are still having cases of Covid reported to us and have several cases of Flu within school as well. This makes such a difference and we are mindful that we would hate anybody to have to isolate/be ill over the Christmas period especially when they could be visiting vulnerable relatives.

As always, I look forward to celebrating with you all on Friday with our celebration assembly when we will once again ‘Reach for the Stars’

    Maple Class:
We have been very busy this week in Maple and have rehearsed our dances and songs for the Christmas performance on Thursday – we can’t wait to show you! We have been learning all about the story of the first Christmas and have been retelling it.  We are also enjoying lots of Christmas crafts!

    Cedar Class
This week we have been really getting a grasp on animation in our computing lessons. We have been predicting through storyboards and making our own stop frame animation. In addition, Christmas preparations are well and truly underway with the children really enjoying Christmas crafts.

    Damson Class:
This week in literacy, we have been writing our own Horrid Henry comic strip story as well as starting to get the ‘Christmas Feeling’ with activities and rehearsals.

    Oak Class:
This week has been another busy one in Oak Class as well as across school. We have completed our dress rehearsal and have worked to perfect our lines and songs – we are looking forward to Thursday – show day! In maths we have learnt how to calculate percentages and in our topic work we made our own rock cakes and we sampled a wartime soup recipe. This week we have also completed a SATs practice to see if we are on track and deserve a homework free holiday. We also had a fun visit to sing carols at the Burton Green Residents Lunch last Friday.
