The term draws to a conclusion and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the support you have shown me and the school this year.  It is a pleasure working with you all and I look forward to September when we will once again embark on a journey of excitement and learning.

It is always sad saying good bye to people and this year we need to say good bye and good luck to Mrs Tansell who is leaving her teaching assistant role, but will still be in school to see us in a voluntary capacity.

Many thanks for all the support you have offered us during your time as parents of children at the school.  I hope you have a wonderful summer and I wish all of our pupils who are leaving, good luck in their new schools.  We will always remember you and I hope you will always remember Burton Green Academy!

    Class Highlights of the Week:
    Maple Class:

This week we are creating lots of under the sea craft! We have made some paper plate creatures and are making jelly fish using bubble wrap. We had a great time at Sport's Day and were fantastic in our races! We hope you all have a lovely summer.
    Cedar Class:

What a fantastic year! As I look back I think of how far each child in Cedar has come and equally how far I have come in my first year of teaching. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to share in your children's journey and I look forward to teaching some of them next year.
    Damson Class:

Year 5 really enjoyed their trip to Kingswood last week and have been busy making photo collages filled with their favourite memories.  Also we have been playing lots of kwik cricket and solving problems in maths.
    Oak Class:

We have had a very busy week since our return from Kingswood. Monitoring everyone in school running a mile, organising sports day and joining in the teddy bears picnic with our buddies. We also got our SATs results everyone did amazingly well.

What a busy week (if not slightly quieter in school) as our year 5 and 6 children are off enjoying their school journey in the Isle of Wight.  I am sure parents in year 5 and 6 have enjoyed seeing all of the updates on Twitter and seeing the fantastic things the children have been up to!

I have had the opportunity to work in Damson class this week and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the children on a Theme Park project. The children have produced amazing posters, tricky costings for the building of their theme park and got a chance to try out their ideas in a simulation.

A huge thank you needs to go to Cala homes for their donation of our Reading Arbour and I need to say a huge thank you to Faye’s Dad’s company’ A & C Building Services - Craig and Andy constructed the arbour in such a quick time!  This support is wonderful and really makes a difference in adding little extras to the school.

The last word has to go to Cedar’s amazing class assembly this week.  It really did feel like we were in Hyde Park as we rocked along to a number of sure fire hits!

We don’t have a Celebration Assembly this week, but I hope you all have a fantastic rest of the week and   I look forward to seeing you all next week at our Final Assembly of this School Year.

    Class Highlights of the Week:
    Maple Class:
We are exploring letters and postcards for the last two weeks in literacy and are counting in different ways in maths. We are also going to be building shelters during Wellie Wednesday.

    Cedar Class:
Wow, what a performance! Thank you so much for coming and watching our performance. Thank you again for your support. I am very proud of all the children who took part.
    Damson and Oak Class:

Our Year 4 children have enjoyed working with Mr Morris this week in school on their Theme Park projects. Whilst our Year 5 children from Damson, and Year 6 from Oak have been enjoying the sunshine and activities on their residential in the Isle of Wight!

Another week has flown by at Burton Green with so much still happening.  The children in Damson (children in Year 5) and Oak are busy packing in readiness for their adventure next week and Oak are preparing for their Garden Party on Friday afternoon.  As I have popped into Damson class I have seen them working hard on lots of lovely work and I can’t wait to see them all dressed up tomorrow for their Egyptian day!

I can’t forget the fantastic Summer Fayre on Friday evening where we enjoyed fantastic stalls, lovely food, entertainment and an amazing atmosphere.  Many thanks to our PTFA for organising this event and for all their hard work in the previous weeks and months.  This amazing event has raised £1800 profit for the school. Well done to everybody who came and supported this event.

I will definitely remember the gunge! 😊

I look forward to seeing you on Friday for our celebration assembly where we will once again reach for those stars!

    Class Highlights of the Week:
    Maple Class:

This week we are busy writing pirate character descriptions to try and find our stolen treasure! In maths we have been learning to tell the time and have been focussing on o'clock, half past and quarter past times. Please encourage us to have a go at home too. We are already trying to use our classroom clock to tell the time during the day and are doing really well!
    Cedar Class:
This week we have really enjoyed practising for our Class Assembly and can’t wait to show everyone next Tuesday - we look forward to seeing you all then!
    Damson Class:
We have been looking forward to meeting Cleopatra on Thursday for our Egyptian day.  Also, in literacy we have been learning tricks to help us memorise poems and perform them in interesting ways.
    Oak Class:
Wow – the whole class worked extremely hard to create profits running their stalls at the Summer Fayre. Boys team won with a tiny margin but well done to everyone. Transition days to Secondary School have taken place for all children – as a result nerves have subsided and excitement has taken its place.
