It was so lovely to see so many of you at parent consultations this week. The enthusiasm of the children in sharing their work with yourselves is wonderful to see.  Working in partnership is so important when working in education and seeing this in action at parent consultations is fantastic.

As winter finally appears to be making an appearance please make sure your child has a nice warm coat for play times as we endeavour to get the children out not matter what the weather.  If the weather does include significant snow then you will be notified using the school texting service and notification through the Warwickshire system which notifies through their own texting service and the local radio.

I hope you all have a fantastic half term and I look forward to seeing everybody after a restful half term.

    Class Highlights of the Week:
    Maple Class:

We’ve had a very exciting week so far! We had a dinosaur break in on Monday and had to be detectives to look for clues. We have used this to inspire our story writing! We have also had a D&T day and have been constructing some fantastic dinosaurs.
    Cedar Class:
The Children have enjoyed layering tissue paper to create volcano art in the style of Margaret Godfrey. I am also very proud of our Jack and the Beanstalk stories.
    Damson Class:
This week we have been practising different oil pastel techniques in art.  In maths, we have been using column methods to multiply some rather large numbers and 'chunking' to divide.
    Oak Class:
We have been revising features of newspapers in Literacy, in topic work we have learned rules to a new game Pok-a-Tok played by the Ancient Maya. We are all looking forward to the half term holidays, including Miss V.

We have had another lovely week in school with the children working hard in readiness for the parent consultations next week.  As staff we got an opportunity this week to review writing across the school.  It was such a valuable experience as we all got to see how the children’s vocabulary, their ideas and the ways in which they write their ideas develop through the school.  It is quite clear to see how much progress the children make and that we certainly have some budding future writers!

After half term the school will be once again sending out parent questionnaires to gain your opinions on school matters.  This year we are planning to make the move to an electronic format in a bid to be more environmentally friendly.

Many thanks to all of you who were able to attend the E-safety and Vision sessions that were held last week.  This week you will notice a booklet coming home with your child on ‘digital parenting’ which will hopefully support you in the area of E-Safety.

I look forward to seeing you on Friday for our Celebration Assembly where we will once again celebrate the fantastic children that attend
    this school.

    Class Highlights of the Week:
    Maple Class:

We have been reading a new story this week called 'The way to the Zoo' and are planning our own versions of the story with some very mischievous animal characters!  In maths we are exploring 3D shapes and are learning to use the correct vocabulary to describe them. Can you help us spot any on our way to school?
    Cedar Class:
This week we have been focusing on music this week and particularly composing our own tune using instruments. In addition, we have been diving deeper into volcanoes like Vesuvius to uncover their history.
    Damson Class:
This week we have been looking at plants which grow in the different layers of the rainforest.  Also, in literacy we have been debating some key arguments and learning how to disagree well!
    Oak Class:
We have been revising properties of 3D shapes and learning to use a compass by drawing and measuring circles in numeracy. In literacy we have been researching graffiti artists and considering our opinions – Is it art or vandalism?
