Burton Green Academy Newsletter 6th December 2023

Dear Parents,
It has been a really busy week with the preparation for the productions in readiness for the shows.

I have been ‘blown away’ by the amazing performances that we have already seen/heard. You are in for a real treat!

It was so lovely to see everybody at the Christmas Fayre on Friday evening.  It was a really special event that was enjoyed by everybody who attended.  Many thanks to the fantastic PTFA for all of their hard work in putting this event on.

We have a very busy end to the term with lots to look forward to, such as the School Christmas Production, Pantomime, Carol service, Christmas lunch, Christmas Parties and more!

As always, I look forward to celebrating with you all on Friday with our celebration assembly when we will once again ‘Reach for the Stars’

Maple Class:
This week in Maple we are busy rehearsing our song and dance for the Christmas production. We can’t wait to show you next week! We are continuing to explore the book – Beegu – in our English lessons and have been sequencing the events and identifying how she felt at these times. In maths, we are exploring money and we are learning all about the nativity story in RE.

Cedar Class:
Year 3 have been working hard on their fractions using number lines to help. Year 2 have been finding the difference between numbers and identifying their jumps using number lines. We are reviewing apostrophes for contractions and possession, which we hope will help us all write our non-chronological reports.

Damson Class:
Damson Class have been working hard on their Christmas rehearsals. The children have shown really great development in their acting skills. In addition, we have begun our new book ‘How to Train your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell. Where we look at how the Hero Hiccup learns perseverance.

Oak Class:
This week Class we have been completing SAT assessment papers to assess our progress. We have also been working on our Christmas production by rehearsing and together with others throughout school. We had a fabulous time singing carols at the Burton Green Residents Christmas Lunch on Friday – we also were provided with some delicious, sweet treats for our efforts.
