Oak (Year 6)
In Oak Class pupils are given responsibilities to help around school. They take turns to ring the bell, take around registers, tidy the libraries, organise the milk, to carry out peer mediation and the job they really enjoy is being buddied with a reception child.
Miss Lucking works in Oak Class on a Friday and Miss Villiers for the rest of the week. Both teach discrete subjects which allows the class to experience different teaching styles and helps children to prepare for secondary school.
Every day we begin with either a maths or literacy challenge, this helps to consolidate learning throughout the year. We focus on topics which change each term and in the first and third term these also steer a lot of our literacy work.
We learn and revise many of the concepts we have been taught in previous year groups ready to take our SAT tests (in May each year). It is a time to show off all the skills we have developed and perfected.
This term we have been focussed on our Graffiti and Detective Units in literacy which have been inspiring. We have all created graffiti art work and are working towards writing our own detective stories.
PE can be both fun and educational as we have all developed our games skills and the outdoor adventure games are great fun.
