Burton Green Academy Newsletter 6th April 2022

Dear Parents,
It has been such a busy term with so much happening.  As I look back it is hard to believe we only have one term left of this academic year.

I am so impressed with how our children have developed over this year and am so impressed with how the children in Maple class have grown in confidence.  This week I have seen them working with money and making different amounts and also writing fantastic instructions on how to make a crown.

Within Oak class the children have demonstrated such maturity and I know the secondary schools will be so pleased to welcome these fantastic young people next year.

I am very excited to see the Easter performance by Damson class tomorrow.  The children and team in Damson class have worked tirelessly in difficult situations, to ensure they are ready for a great performance.

There has been some confusion regarding Mathletics awards.  Mathletics always calculate the scores at the end of the week on a Sunday evening.  This has caused some confusion on knowing whether a child has achieved a certificate, I hope this provides clarity.

I hope you all have a restful and relaxing Easter break where you get a chance to spend some quality time with your families.

Maple Class:
This week we have been continuing our unit on instructions and wrote our own instructions to make crowns for the Queen! We are also going to be testing out the instructions we wrote to make sandwiches tomorrow and will enjoy eating the end result. We are really looking forward to decorating easter bonnets on Friday for the Easter Eggstravaganza!

Cedar Class:
In what has been a tiring last week of term the children have worked extremely hard in their learning. We have finished our last piece of recount writing after ‘re-telling’ the story for Quest (a wordless book) from the characters perspective. As well as, concluding our Roman topic. After focusing on Roman art, we have created our own mosaic coaster. This has certainly challenged the children’s fine motor skills. After Easter we will be learning about
the seaside.

Damson Class
In Damson Class this week we are doing our final preparations for our Easter production. We are very excited to perform it to you all!
Aside from this, we are making rain sticks in DT, this will be our last activity in our Rainforest Topic. After Easter we will be learning about Ancient Greece.
We are also enjoying our ICT module on Data Logging in ICT. Have a happy and restful Easter everyone!

Oak Class:
In Oak Class we have been calculation ratio and proportions this week as well as revising reasoning questions using past papers. In literacy we have written letters of complaint using powerful vocabulary and persuasive language. We have used artist dummy models to help us draw people in action and proportion. We are all looking forward to a well-earned Easter break.
