Burton Green Academy Newsletter 4th October 2023

Dear Parents,
It was lovely seeing the children having their photographs taken on Monday.  I can’t believe how quickly they grow up!  They were all really sensible and definitely photogenic 😊

It is so lovely seeing the year 6 supporting their buddies in reception class. It is something that was greatly missed during Covid and is a really special part of our school.

I know that both year 6 and reception benefit greatly from this partnership. Well done year 6 for being such great role models!

Parent consultation forms will be sent home shortly in readiness for our parent consultations the week before half term.  We look forward to talking to you about your children’s progress and all of wonderful things they have achieved already this term.

I look forward to celebrating with you all during our celebration assembly on Friday morning in the hall. Have a wonderful weekend, when it finally arrives!

Maple Class:
This week in Maple Class, we are exploring a new book called ‘Not a Stick’. It is a fantastic book for helping us use our imaginations. We have thought of lots of ideas for what the stick could become, from a magic wand to witch’s broomstick! In maths, we have been practising our counting skills and year 1 have been exploring doubling.

Cedar Class:
We have really enjoyed building our knowledge of poetry and writing a poem together as a class using rhyming couplets. In Maths, year 2’s have been investigating angles and different shapes, while year 3’s have been practicing telling them time to the nearest 5 minutes.

Damson Class:
We have had a lovely time this week looking at time in maths. The children have been looking at time intervals and 24hour timers. In English we are writing our final Just so story in the style of Rudyard Kipling. The Children are packing their learning time with lot of activities to help us progress.

Oak Class:
In Oak Class this week we have been revising speech marks punctuation. We are writing our Refugee stories as the climax to our english unit of work too. In maths we have been calculating weight and measure conversions. We have also written Harvest Prayers in preparation for the assembly at the end of this month.
