Burton Green Academy Newsletter 336 26th June

Dear Parents,
We have had a busy week preparing for our Summer Fayre this Friday evening. We hope that as many of you as possible can join us for this exciting event (6-8pm).

I have had a chance last week to see the amazing work in Cedar class.  Not only were they creating amazing writing about Sinbad’s adventures, but their collage artwork based on the sea and lighthouse was truly breathtaking!

Noah and Arthur did a fantastic job representing their school at the area athletics competition on Tuesday afternoon.  Well done for some great results in hot weather!

In Maple class, I also got to see our new children start to come in for their visits to school.  It is such an exciting time and it is lovely seeing our current reception children being fantastic role models for the younger children.

I look forward to seeing you on Friday when we will once again ‘Reach for the Stars’. I hope we can all have a restful weekend and lots of fun at the fayre on Friday evening!

Maple Class:
We have enjoyed welcoming some of our new reception children today for their first settling session and Maple Class were super role models! We look forward to meeting the second group next week. In English, we have created our own superworm adventures and will be writing them later this week. In maths, we have been learning to tell the time and have focussed on o’clock and half past.

Cedar Class:
Cedar have really loved exploring the voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, and it has been wonderful to see their creativity and imagination in their literacy lessons. In maths we have continued to investigate large open-ended problems, using trial and error and reasoning to solve them. Finally, we have also been preparing for our sports day next week, everyone is getting very excited.

Damson Class:
This week the children have compared Ancient Greek Olympics to the modern-day games with a focus on the games this Summer in Paris. In addition, the children have been working well online, graphs in year 5 and also multiplication in year 4. We have begun our persuasive writing unit in English and hopefully the children will continue their amazing engagement.

Oak Class:
This week we have been finishing our Kingswood Topic/Memory Books. We have also had a very enjoyable dance session with the dance specialist Laura from Dance Days. The theme was country dance style married with modern day music, the whole class thoroughly enjoyed the session. We have also been working on our end of school show, we have begun to rehearse now the stage is set.
