Burton Green Academy Newsletter 24th March 2021

Time is again flying as we enjoy a fun filled week of learning.  As I have gone around the school it has been lovely to see the children enjoying the challenges within their learning.  I have been lucky enough to see Cedar class busily working on their shields this week and Maple class have had so much fun searching for Easter eggs and the Easter bunny!

We will once again be filming our virtual celebration assembly this week, as it gives us a chance as a community to come together and celebrate the wonderful achievements of the children within the school.  Apologies for quality issues and glitches within the system.  The internet within school struggles to cope with 5 live feeds, but we still feel it hopefully gives you a flavour of the children receiving their certificates.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the Warwickshire guidance is very clear that if your child is unwell, they should not be attending school.  Whilst this can be frustrating, the aim from the county council is very much to keep all of the bubbles open and the children enjoying the opportunity to learn and play with their friends.

If you have not done so already, you can find out more information about testing when you don’t have symptoms and also where to collect home test kits for yourselves.

Have a wonderful weekend when it finally appears.

Maple Class:
This week we have been making our own wooden spoon puppets! At the beginning of the week, we planned out our design and today we have been very busy making them. They look fantastic! We have also been learning about the events in ‘Holy Week’ in RE.

Cedar Class:
This week the children have enjoyed researching about viking warriors. We have made viking shields and become viking warriors through some drama. The shield designs have been really fantastic and personalised.

Damson Class:
We have been learning about positive and negative numbers in maths this week.  Also, in computing we have been using software to record jingles and edit our sounds.

Oak Class:
We have been creating performance style narrative poetry this week which has shown a real creative flair within the class. In numeracy we have been revisiting basic operations of multiplication and division as well as translating and reflecting shapes within 4 quadrants. To complete the Maya topic for the term everyone enjoyed making and sampling guacamole, salsa and humus.
