Burton Green Academy Newsletter 18th September 2019

I can’t believe how fast the term is passing.  The children are well established in their new routines and it is nice that they are able to enjoy some nice weather.  This week we were lucky to have our new youth worker ‘Kate’ from St Nicks church join us for our assembly on Tuesday.  The children had a lot of fun thinking about the fruits of life and a fun game with a blindfold!

This weekend sees the start of our cross country with our children in year 6 competing at Southam college this weekend.  Fingers crossed for some good weather and good times.

I look forward to seeing you on Friday for our celebration assembly.

Class Highlights of the Week:
Maple Class:

This week in Maple Class we are exploring the story 'The NEW Small Person' and are spending time talking about our own families. We are also exploring patterns in maths and have been creating our own repeating patterns too.

Cedar Class:
It was lovely to share the dragons the children had created for homework and discuss the myths surrounding knights, castles and dragons!

Damson Class:
This week we have been looking at images of a young Queen Victoria and we have been considering how to create strong passwords and how to keep them safe.  Also, in literacy, we have been completing our first hot task of the year by writing an incident report of an alien landing - trying to remember all the key features of recount writing.

Oak Class:
This week we have been calculating with decimal numbers in numeracy. In Literacy we have created our own persuasive advertisements – we have some budding sales champions of the future. In art some fabulous sketches of Churchill have been produced.
