Burton Green Academy Newsletter 15th May 2019

This has been a very busy week with our Year 6 class working hard on their SATS and our year 2 children busily continuing work on their SATS.  I am so impressed with the way in which the children take all of these things in their stride and deal with them in such a mature attitude.  This is partially due to their own resilience and attitude and also due to the hard work that our teachers put into supporting these children to achieve their best, without putting untoward pressure.  A huge thank you to Miss V, Mr Nailor, Mrs Beardsmore and Mrs Hind for all the support that they have shown the children in both year 2 and 6.

A special ‘Thank you’ also needs to go to Mrs T who has worked so hard this week to ensure all of the Bacon Butties have been cooked to perfection.  All I can say is that the aroma of the children in Oak class has made me hungry this week!

These are some of the things that make Burton Green so special and a wonderful school to be associated with.

I hope everybody enjoys their weekend and I look forward to seeing some of you at our celebration assembly on Friday.

Class Highlights of the Week:
Maple Class:
This week we are really enjoying the book 'African Animal Alphabet' and are finding out lots of interesting facts! In maths we are measuring weight and capacity and we will be planting bean seeds in our Science lesson.
Cedar Class:
Year 2’s have enjoyed getting their hand (and sometimes clothes) dirty learning about gardening. Whilst the year 3’s have enjoyed investigating the different properties of magnets.
Damson Class:
We have been learning about the end of Cleopatra's life painting pictures of another rather famous Pharaoh!  We have also been completing some assessments this week.
Oak Class:
Oak class have been completing their SAT tests this week. They have all worked really hard and showed great maturity in coping well and showing off all the skills and knowledge they have. It’s been a week of Bacon Butties and treats cooked by our own resident Chef – Mrs. T and helpers which everyone deserved.
