Burton Green Academy Newsletter 15th January 2020

It has been a really busy start to the term with lots of fantastic learning taking place.  Today we are all excited as we get ready for our trip to ‘Young Voices’.  We are going to do our best to document the day so feel free to have a look on Twitter at @GreenLeekFederation.  Please keep a close eye on the newsletter dates over the coming weeks as we add a couple of dates for parents.  I look forward to seeing you at our celebration assembly on Friday when we will once again ‘Reach for the Stars’.

Class Highlights of the Week:

Maple Class:
Our egg hatched and a baby triceratops was inside! We named him Timmy and have been taking very good care of him. We have been researching information all about Triceratops’ and will be making our own class non-fiction book. In maths we have been finding number bonds to 10 and have been using them to help us solve problems.
Cedar Class:
The Children have worked really hard to understand tectonic plates and how mountains are formed. They have been trying really hard.
Damson Class:
This week we have learning some key rainforest vocabulary and identifying the tropics on the world map.  Also, in literacy, we have been looking at how to improve our sentence structures in our fiction writing.
Oak Class:
Most of Oak Class went to the Young Voices event at the Genting Arena this week, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In maths we have been working with both decimals and fractions, in literacy we have been recognising relative clauses and changing text from past to present tense. It has been another busy but productive week.
