Burton Green Academy Newsletter 14th June 2023

Dear Parents,
It is so lovely to have our year 6 children back in school with lovely beaming smiles after their week of adventure.

A huge thank you to Miss V, Mr Nailor and Mrs T who supported the children to try everything and have a wonderful time.

I was so pleased to hear of the children during our sporting events on Monday afternoon. They all did fantastically well and I’m so proud of their resilience and determination to achieve their best.

I was delighted last night to meet some of our new pupils and their parents who will be joining us in September.  It is so lovely to meet new people who will be becoming part of our Burton Green family.

Tomorrow Damson and Oak class are looking forward to our Alive Praise event.  It should be a great time for everybody to be together as a big Diocesan family and to celebrate.

On Friday we will be once again ‘Reaching for the Stars’ and I look forward to seeing you there.

Maple Class:
This week we have been writing fantastic descriptions in literacy to get our treasure back! We have also been making some super treasure maps too. In maths, we have been exploring number bonds to 10 and we have been learning all about the summer season in science. We are really looking forward to our African day with Cedar class on Thursday where we will be learning to play the African Drum.

Cedar Class
This week the children have been looking at scaling up and scaling down in Year 3 during our maths and multiplying by 3 for year 2s.  In addition, we are looking forward to our African day where we will be looking to learn to play the African Drum and about beautiful African patterns.

Damson Class:
This week in Damson Class, we have been busy doing assessments in Maths and Literacy. We have also attended sports events, had our singing workshop and will be going to Alive Praise this coming Thursday. This is all in addition to marvelling at our brilliant pyramid homework. Thank you to all who helped build these seventh wonders of Damson Class!

Oak Class:
Oak Class have had another busy time after our residential last week. With athletics on Monday and Alive Praise on Thursday we have spent our time in school working on our enterprise projects, creating advertising posters and setting out balance sheet costings for our materials. We have also learned how costal features are formed in our geography topic.
