Burton Green Academy Newsletter 11th May 2022

Dear Parents,
This has been a very busy week with our Year 6 class working hard on their SATS and our year 2 children busily continuing work on their SATS.  I am so impressed with the way in which the children take all of these things in their stride and deal with them in such a mature attitude.

This is partially due to their own resilience and attitude and also due to the hard work that our teachers put into supporting these children to achieve their best, without putting untoward pressure.  A huge thank you to Miss V, Mrs Sembhi, Miss Lucking, Mr Nailor and Mrs Hind for supporting the children in a way to help them achieve their best whilst still feeling happy and confident children.

A special ‘Thank you’ also needs to go to Mrs T and Mrs Waite who have worked so hard this week to ensure all of the Bacon Butties have been cooked to perfection.  All I can say is that the aroma in the hall has made me hungry this week!

I hope everybody enjoys their weekend (when it comes) and I look forward to 'Reaching for the Stars’ when Friday comes.

Maple Class:
This week we are finding out all about bikes within our ‘On the Move’ topic. We have been comparing bikes to those created in the past and have been finding out about the links with Coventry. We have also been enjoying riding some in our outdoor area! In maths we have been doubling and exploring number bonds to 10.

Cedar Class:
This week I would like to extend a HUGE well done to the Year 2 children who began their SATs. They tried their best and were very resilient. In their learning this week, the children have been finishing and evaluating Sinbad the Sailor. We have been discussing which voyages we liked the best and then performed our favourite ones using excellent expression.

Damson Class
This week in Damson Class we have been writing persuasive arguments in Literacy and using column addition to add 4 & 5 digit numbers in Maths. We have also enjoyed looking at Ancient Greek artefacts and are currently designing amphoras of our own. As usual, Damson Class have produced an amazing array of unique Grecian inspired pots.

Oak Class:
This week I am super proud of all the pupils in Oak Class. Everyone has been undertaking the SAT’s tests in a calm, organised and mature way. It is a time for the class to show off what they know and they are doing themselves proud.
We also did a spot of gardening by helping to clear the raised beds which were in great need of weeding.
Well done Year 6.
