Burton Green Academy Newsletter 11th December 2019

It has been a really busy week with the preparation for the productions in readiness for the show on Friday!  I have had a few sneaky peeps and you are all in for a real treat.

Last Friday we had the amazing Christmas Fayre which has raised £2,242.31 (without expenses).  This is an amazing amount of money which really does support the school.  I would also like to mention that the children managed to raise £300 with their stalls.  I would like to thank everybody who supported this event by both attending, helping run stalls and then tidying up afterwards.  It is lovely to have such a community feel and see everybody working together for the good of the children within the school.

I would like to remind parents to not park in the Cala homes showroom car park as this is causing some issues.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend when it arrives and I look forward to seeing you on Friday for the performance.

Class Highlights of the Week:

Maple Class:
We are very excited for our Christmas show this week and have been busy practising our singing and dancing! We have also been solving money problems in maths and have been focussing on using capital letters and full stops accurately in Literacy.
Cedar Class:
Dress rehearsal done!  The children are really looking forward to sharing their play with you. Merry Christmas.
Damson Class:
This week we have been really busy rehearsing for the Christmas production. Also, we have been reciting some classic poems and investigating lots of poetic features in literacy. In computing, we have been creating our own animations using Pivot Animator, 2simpe and iMovie.
Oak Class:
We have been busy with writing war songs in our topic work.  In numeracy we have been calculating division and percentages – so the children are ready for the sales.
We all had a lot of fun singing to the Burton Green residents at their Christmas lunch on Friday, we also enjoyed the Gingerbread creations they made for us.
Design & Technology day on Thursday 12th December can the Children wear old home clothes for the messy crafts we will be doing.
