Burton Green Academy Newsletter 338 10th July

Dear Parents,
This week we will be once again celebrating the successes of the children within their annual reports and their KS2 SATS results.

I am so proud of what all of the children achieve each and every single day and having an opportunity to read their reports gives me that opportunity to hear about the highlights of their year.

I am looking forward to watching the Year 6 performance/Tea Party this Friday when we get to celebrate their performance skills with you all.

I would also like to say a huge well done to the year 6 children as their enterprise project raised a fantastic amount – over £450. Amazing work from our budding entrepreneurs.

I look forward to ‘Reaching for the Stars’ during our last celebration assembly on Friday and seeing you at our Open evening next week.

As always thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful weekend when it finally arrives.

Maple Class:
This week in Maple Class we are really enjoying our new book – The Day the Crayons Quit! We have been using this to help us learn how to write letters and will also be exploring postcards too. In maths, Reception have been representing number bonds to 10 and year 1 have been learning how to represent 2 digit numbers in different ways. We are really excited for our transition afternoon this week too.

Cedar Class:
Cedar have applied their maths knowledge really well in their sessions this week, particularly practicing their times tables. In Literacy, we have been reading traditional tales, and enjoyed recounting them in our own styles verbally, as well as storyboarding them. Everyone showed maturity in our PSHE lesson, focussing on privacy and personal space, and they did a great job in the discussions that came up. We are all very much looking forward to the excitement of moving up day on Wednesday, where Year 2’s will show their role model skills to help the year 1’s settle into Cedar, and Year 3’s will rise to the challenges in Damson!

Damson Class:
This week the children are doing amazingly learning about persuasive writing. Modal verbs and advertising have played a big role this week. In addition, we have been finalising our mathematical learning looking at squared and cubed numbers. The children have taken part greatly in our learning about democracy and that of the general election. We were learning to respect other people’s values and opinions and this has been greatly received.

Oak Class:
This week we have been perfecting our end of year show. The class are all looking forward to performing it on Friday. There have also been several transition days in the last week – everyone is feeling more confident about their transition to secondary school now.
