Burton Green Academy Newsletter 337 3rd July
Dear Parents,
It has been a most eventful time, since I wrote to you last week!
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the summer fayre on Friday evening. The atmosphere was really special, and it was lovely to seeing the ‘Burton Green family’ together.
Our year 6 enterprise initiative was very impressive once again, raising much needed funds for the school. Their hard work and determination was once again on full show. I will either see some of them on Dragon’s Den or the Apprentice one day.
It was a huge success overall, not only raising a fantastic amount, but more importantly creating a wonderful community feel. Well done to our fantastic PTFA for organising such a fabulous event. A lot of work, but definitely worth it
Things move so quickly and it is so exciting as we prepare for our transition afternoon when our new reception pupils will join us again.
As we approach the end of term, I have already seen the stage is set for play rehearsals in year 6, I’m sure it will once again be a fantastic show! I hope you all have a good rest of the week and a restful weekend when it arrives.
In addition, we are looking forward to the Doodle Tea Party next week 😊
I look forward to celebrating with you on Friday when we once again ‘Reach for the Stars’
Maple Class:
We are really looking forward to Sports Day on Thursday and have enjoyed practising lots of races! In maths, we have been exploring patterns and have created repeated patterns. We also have completed some tricky pattern problem solving challenges! We enjoyed welcoming the second group of Reception 2024 children into Maple Class and were super role models once again.
Cedar Class:
Cedar are so looking forward to their Sports Day on Thursday, and I can’t wait to see them all compete. We have reviewed and shared our narratives about Sinbad the Sailor, and children have cheered each other on when reading each other’s. In Maths, Cedar have investigated solving open ended problems, applying their knowledge in a range of ways which has been challenging but they have risen to the occasion brilliantly.
Damson Class:
This week Damson have been working really hard in their computing, looking at repetition in games and coding on scratch. We have been looking at the concept of infinity and ‘forever’ loops which have supported the development of our games. In addition, the children have continued to look at advertisements, understanding the features of persuasive writing.
Oak Class:
In Oak Class this week several children have been on visits to their secondary schools, they have all enjoyed the experience. In school we have been organising sorts day practice for the other classes. We have also worked on our end of school show and created the necessary props as well as finish our Kingswood Topic books.
