Burton Green Academy Newsletter 335 19th June

Dear Parents,
It has been another busy week with at least a little more sunshine!

Within school we are busily working within class and also our PTFA are busily preparing for our Summer Fayre on Friday 28th June. We are looking forward to welcoming you all in on that evening and are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather (without the showers).

If you are keen to volunteer, please contact the office and they will put you in contact with one of our PTFA team.

At the start of the week, it was great to see our children represent their school in the Kenilworth cluster athletics competition.  All of the children did themselves proud and should be proud of what they achieved.  I am proud to say that Noah in year 3 and Arthur in year 4 have qualified for the running and long jump finals for Warwickshire which are taking place next week. Good luck!

We have lots going on over the following weeks so please keep reading the newsletter, emails and our texts to ensure you don’t miss out on anything!

You can also subscribe to the School Calendar so that you can have all the events in your Phone calendar.

I look forward to seeing you on Friday when we will once again ‘Reach for the Stars’. I hope we can all have a restful (and dry) weekend

Maple Class:
This week we have been reading Superworm and have been using fantastic expression to retell it! We have been exploring the rhyming words within it and have been thinking of some great adjectives to describe the characters. In maths, we have been identifying which numbers are odd and which are even and have been using this to look for patterns. We are also super scientists and have been identifying the materials different objects around our classroom are made from.

Cedar Class:
In Maths this week Cedar have been using trial and error skills to find solutions to open problems. They have shown determination and resilience when making errors and also good reasoning when trying again. In literacy we have finished Sinbad the Sailor’s First Voyage, and are looking at how recounts can spark imagination.

Damson Class:
This week the children have been working extremely hard in maths, solving problems by thinking logically, working systematically and generalising. In addition, we have begun to write our own fable with the features gathered from the famous Aesop’s fables and other sources.

Oak Class:
A busy week with finalising our enterprise project details and setting out costing spreadsheets. We all took part in the Edmonscote Athletics on Monday, we enjoyed cheering on our whole school in the events. We have been enjoying our class text - Kensuke’s Kingdom - and considering how we would feel about an around the world adventure.
