Burton Green Academy Newsletter 333 5th June
Dear Parents,
It has been such a busy week back after half term.
Monday started with us waving Oak class, Miss V and Mrs T off on their exciting journey to the Isle of Wight. The children had such huge smiles, that were only matched by the size of their bags!
Updates so far have indicated lots of fun adventures some mini-Olympics and fun on the water with raft building and then a disco (not at the same time). I hope that somewhere in there is also some sleep!
Back in school the children have settled back into the routines with lots of exciting learning.
Maple class were keen to get back to their learning and I know that the current reception children will be keen to show our ‘new’ reception children the toys and games that we play in school when they start visiting over the upcoming weeks.
The next couple of weeks will be very busy week as some of our KS2 children representing their school at the Kenilworth athletics Competition on the 17th June and our year 4 children complete their times table challenge!
I look forward to celebrating with you on Friday when we will once again. ‘Reach for the Stars!’.
Maple Class:
We have really enjoyed our story this week – Oi Frog! We have been exploring rhyme and have identified the rhyming words in the text. We are also thinking of our own rhyming words to add in more animals to the story. In maths, we are learning about money and have been exploring the value of different coins. We are also identifying the changes that occur as we move from Spring to Summer.
Cedar Class:
This week Cedar have really impressed with their attitude to half term assessments. They have given 100% effort and shown real resilience and positivity. We have begun looking at Grace Darling with our Seaside Rescue topic, and this has merged into our Literacy when looking at diary entries. In Maths we have been looking at shapes, revising symmetry and looking at translation. It has been great seeing everyone settle in so well after half term.
Damson Class:
Damson have settled in well after half term and they have tried hard this week. We are learning about Aesop’s fables and how they came to be. In addition, in mathematics, we have been learning about short division which is our next step after chunking. The children have also worked hard in our assessments this week and tried their best. Although it can be worrying, the children have seen this as an opportunity to show what they have learnt this year.
Oak Class:
Our news this week is that Oak class are enjoying a fantastic time away at Kingswood with our new friends from All Saints, trying lots of new activities and making lots of amazing memories.
