Christian Distinctiveness
"A church school should be a place that lives and breathes hope - hope in God's transforming power, hope in the gifts and abilities of all who play their part in life of the school, hope in the power of the school to develop the potential of all its members"
John Cox - More than Caring and Sharing (2011)
At Burton Green, we want every child to live a full and enriched life. We want them to know that they are cared for, valued, and an important part of our community. Our vision is to offer Life in All Its Fullness (John 10:10b) by nurturing joy, purpose, and belonging, so that every child has the chance to flourish. We are proud to serve a diverse community, and we see this as a real strength. The richness of life experiences, cultures, and faiths brings vibrancy, warmth, and depth to our school family.
Our values of Value Yourself, Value Each Other, and Value the World You Live In guide all that we do. These values help our children grow not only in knowledge but also in character, preparing them to make a difference in our ever-changing world. Through these values, we encourage children to develop self-respect, show kindness and care for others, and take responsibility for looking after the world around them.
Although Burton Green is distinctively Christian in character, we are an inclusive and welcoming community where everyone belongs. Our collective worship and daily life are shaped by Christian teaching, but we also value and celebrate the different beliefs, perspectives, and traditions that enrich our school.
We give children the time and space to share their voices, explore their own beliefs, and learn from others. They are offered immersive experiences, opportunities to reflect, and the encouragement to ask - and try to answer - both big and small questions. In this way, our school community grows together in wisdom, compassion, and hope.
