Burton Green Academy Newsletter 6th July 2022

Dear Parents,
It has been a most eventful time, since I wrote to you last week!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the summer fayre on Friday evening.  The atmosphere was really special, and it really felt like we were all a community again.

Our year 6 enterprise initiative was very impressive raising over £200. This is amazing achievement and I know in future I will either see some of them on Dragon’s Den or the Apprentice.

It was a huge success overall, not only raising a fantastic £1789.08 but making our community feel whole again.  Well done to our fantastic PTFA for organising such a fabulous event.  A lot of work, but definitely worth it 😊

On a completely separate note, thank you all for your support during our Ofsted inspection.  As you can appreciate, it is a very intensive time and we could feel the good vibes from our lovely community.

I hope the rest of the week is a little less eventful, although I have already seen the stage is set for play rehearsals in year 6 and our new reception children visiting this afternoon.

I hope you all have a good rest of the week and a restful weekend when it arrives.

I look forward to celebrating with you on Friday when we once again ‘Reach for the Stars’

Maple Class:
This week in Maple Class we are becoming minibeast experts! We are researching information about different minibeasts and will be making our own books about them. In maths, we have been practising telling the time and have focussed on o’clock, half past and started to explore quarter past times too.

Cedar Class:
This week the children are tasting bread in order to decide which type of bread they will be using in their sandwich. This will be made using a selection of fillings for the ‘Lighthouse keeper’. In addition, we have been looking at the types of lines in mathematics and in literacy writing our own adventure story.

Damson Class
This week in Damson Class we have been learning about time intervals and multiplication in Maths and cohesion in paragraphs, in Literacy. We are also starting to Design some Ancient Greek sandals in DT.

Oak Class:
This week has been a busy one with completing our transition work ahead of settling in days at the children’s secondary schools. We have added up all the profits from the enterprise project and together the class raised £233 which showed an amazing effort from everyone. We are also busy with our play rehearsals.
