Burton Green Academy Newsletter 6th March 2024

Dear Parents,
It has been a really busy week with lots happening and even more planned!

Tomorrow, we are looking forward to the children dressing up to celebrate World Book Day.  We’re hoping we will see lots of famous characters and some creative costumes!  In addition, the children will be enjoying a dance workshop to celebrate this again.  Without giving the theme away, I think the children will enjoy a ‘sweet treat’!

On Friday, we are looking forward to celebrating Mother’s Day and are planning to have ‘mum’s/mother figures’ into School to celebrate for our assembly which starts at 9:05. The children have been busy rehearsing and I know you will enjoy the fabulous singing and performances by all of the children on Friday.

If tradition holds, I am certain there won’t be a dry eye in the house!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend when it comes and if you are a mum (mum figure) you have a wonderful day on Sunday.

Maple Class:
This week we are really looking forward to celebrating World Book Day! We can’t wait to share our favourite book characters and take part in the dance workshop. We have been reading the ‘Three Little Pigs’ and have used fantastic expression to retell it. In maths, we have been exploring number bonds and we have even been solving some missing number problems.

Cedar Class:
This week Cedar have been loving the lead up to world book day. Year 2’s have particularly enjoyed their art-science lesson looking at patterns in nature by taking prints of flowers/stems/vegetables, while Year 3’s have been starting to investigate mirrors and their uses. In Maths we have been working hard solving word problems, using the skills we have built up over the term.

Damson Class:
This week we have reflected on our animal visit to Damson. The children were extremely patient and caring with the animals and handling them. We met: snakes, millipedes, stick insects, tarantulas and even tree frogs, very exciting! In addition, we have been hard at work learning about UFOs and Aliens in our current literacy topic.

Oak Class:
In Oak Class we have been calculating averages in maths with Mean, Mode and Median. In English we researched graffiti artists to find our favourites and we are now writing biographies about them. We have produced some artwork ready to surprise our mums for Mother’s Day too.
