Burton Green Academy Newsletter 327 17th April

Dear Parents,
It has been another very busy week and it has been lovely to see how focused the children have been throughout the school.

One of the very special qualities about the children within our school is their ability to work together and their desire to support their learning partners and friends. This has been so evident in school and it fits really well with our value this half term of ‘Friendship’.

On another lovely note, I have seen a few excited faces since we have been back as the children starting school in September have now received their special letters.

We look forward to welcoming them into school for induction visits later in the term.

I hope that you enjoy the weekend when it finally comes and that we manage to get a little more of the sun that has been peeping through this week.

I look forward to once again ‘Reaching for the stars’ during our celebration assembly on Friday.

Maple Class:
This week we are fantastic story tellers and have made up new adventures for the Naughty Bus! We have planned what he could do when he turns into a ‘night bus’ and are busy writing stories about his next adventure. In maths, we are learning all about 2 digit numbers. Reception have been making teen numbers and have been learning that teen numbers are a 10 and some extra ones. Year one have been learning to represent 2-digit numbers with bead strings and money.

Cedar Class:
Cedar have been superstars this week, throwing themselves into their work, particularly Topic and Science. We continue to learn and share experiences about the Seaside, and in Science year 2’s are focussing on plants and how to become young gardeners, while year 3’s have been investigating magnets’ many uses. We have been busily planning our own fairy tale style stories and look forward to writing them next week. Super job to everyone in Swimming too!

Damson Class:
The children have continued their Greek Learning this week looking at the Myths of Perseus and Theseus in our guided reading. In addition, they have been brilliant with their description as we continue, in English, our journey through Middle-Earth in the Hobbit.

Oak Class:
In Oak Class we have been writing balanced arguments/discussion texts regarding our views on selecting our own bedtimes and graffiti.
In maths we have been revising both long multiplication and division. We have started PSHE work on relationships by exploring the types of support networks we all have.
