The school is part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi Academy Trust and the Academy Governance Committee (AGC) is part of the governance structure of the Trust which is responsible for overseeing strategic decisions of the school. The governance structure for the trust as a whole is outlined in the governance structure documents here.

As an Academy Governance Committee we work in close partnership with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to ensure the best quality education is provided to every child. It is our responsibility to support, challenge, ask questions and ultimately represent the school community. The Academy Governance Committee acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the senior leadership team, questioning and challenging decisions in a constructive and professional way.

Academy Governance Committees have key roles in relation to: providing support, monitoring and challenge around educational experience and performance; church, community and stakeholder engagement and supporting alignment with Trust strategy, approach, ethos and values. The AGC Members meet regularly, visit the school when possible and during special events. As a team, we are able to support the school to function well and strive to provide a high standard of education.

As a Church of England Academy (part of the Diocese of Coventry Multi-Academy Trust) all the AGC Members support the school in being a place of inclusive welcome and education for everyone.

Burton Green CofE Academy and All Saints’ CofE Academy, Leek Wootton have one shared Academy Governance Committee known as the Green Leek AGC.

Claire Harman-Sherwood - Community AGC Member

It is great pleasure to take the role of AGC member. I have two children in year and 4. As a parent I value the outstanding education our children receive in a nurturing environment. The whole child is celebrated and strengths of children are even further nurtured ensuring all children develop into unique happy individuals.

I feel very fortunate to be able to spend time in All Saints' reception class and listen to children read weekly. The magic of watching children grow in confidence and ability is real honour.

I have 22 years experience working in early years settings ranging from day nurseries to a children centre as well as being an Ofsted Outstanding rated childminder and I currently work as a manager at a local Preschool. I have over 10 years management experience and have a good knowledge on safeguarding, working alongside Warwickshire County Council, leadership and early years child development. I have a real passion for working with children and hope that my experience and knowledge will contribute to the parent governor role.

Lesley Tacon - Foundation AGC Member

I have lived in Burton Green since 1977 and both my children attended Burton Green School where they enjoyed a wonderful education which equipped them with a lifelong love of learning. I was delighted to be invited to join the Governing Body in 2000 after taking early retirement from insurance broking.

As a Foundation Governor, I endeavour to maintain and develop the Academy’s Christian vision and values and foster the vital links between the academy and its local parishes. I am an active member of Burton Green Women’s Institute, support Burton Green Choir, Made in Burton Green, Burton Green Residents Association and am a Friend of Burton Green Village Hall. All these organisations enjoy strong partnerships with Burton Green Academy, placing it at the heart of our thriving community.

I believe Burton Green Academy enables each and every child to ‘live life in all its fullness’ and I will do my utmost to support it in any way I can.

Lucy Hatton – Community AGC Member

I’ve lived in Burton Green for over 40 years and have two children who both attended Burton Green Academy and now go to Kenilworth School. I previously served as a parent governor at Burton Green Academy for several years and have recently joined as a Community AGC member. I also hold the role of safeguarding and SEN lead for the school, which I consider both a privilege and an important responsibility.

Having attended Burton Green School myself many years ago, I’ve seen it evolve significantly over time and have very fond memories of my own experience here. I’m keen to help ensure current pupils enjoy the same positive experience as I experienced all of those years ago.

Professionally, I work as an Audit Partner at a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Coventry and act as a responsible individual for a number of schools and academies. I am also a Burton Green Parish Councillor, which allows me to remain actively involved in the local community.

Stella Villiers (Miss V) - AGC member - Headteacher at Burton Green Academy

I have been a primary school teacher for over twenty years. Training in London and returning to the Midlands with my own young family to the Kenilworth area.

I joined Burton Green as a part-time teacher in 2004 and progressed in my position when my own children entered secondary school.

I is a privileged to have become the Headteacher of Burton Green Academy in 2024. I have numerous roles such as; special education needs coordinator, safeguarding lead, year six class teacher, creative team lead and deputy (204-24).

The small school aspect means staff have many roles but this also allows for a family feeling where staff and pupils are well supported and individual needs can be addressed. Pupils gain through the opportunities available in the smaller setting, flourishing in confidence ready for secondary school transition.

Being a teacher is a fantastic career - every day is brightened in some way by the children I teach. Finding the sometimes hidden skill or talent a child holds, seeing a eureka moment or natural ability being stretched provides such rewards that it makes every day worthwhile.

I never cease to feel privileged to be around children at the start of their education. It is my belief that if schools can engage and enthuse children in education when they are young that the rest of their school life becomes so much more rewarding.

Jacob Nailor - Staff AGC Member

I work in primary education and currently teach upper Key Stage 2 pupils. My experience in the classroom has given me valuable insight into teaching, learning, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing. I became a governor because I am passionate about ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education and has the opportunity to thrive.

I am a strong believer in teamwork and collaboration and enjoy working with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support positive outcomes for children. I have recently completed the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) and am now embarking on the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), reflecting my commitment to continuous professional development and educational leadership.

As a governor, I am proud to support the school's strategic direction, as well as represent the staff's voice  while providing constructive challenge to help ensure the best possible outcomes for all pupils.

Emily Rogers - Parent AGC Member

Having grown up in Coventry, I moved to Burton Green in 2019 with my husband and two young children (who are now in Year 4 and Year 2). I am honoured to take on the role of Parent AGC Member and have a clear interest in ensuring that Burton Green Academy continues to provide a safe, supportive, and high-quality learning environment for all pupils. 

For the past fifteen years, I have worked as a tax advisor in professional services, developing strong analytical, financial and risk management skills. I also joined the Burton Green Academy PTF a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the school and getting to know both the school and parent community on a much deeper level. 

As an active member of the school PTFA and a parent of two children at the school, I have developed a strong understanding of the school's community and the positive impact it has on pupils and families. This perspective enables me to appreciate the importance of strong partnerships between the school, parents and the wider community while remaining focused on the interests of all pupils.
